The mind I love most must have wild places, a tangled orchard where dark damsons drop in heavy grass, an overgrown little wood, the chance of a snake or two, a pool that nobody's fathomed the depth of, and paths threaded with flowers planted by the mind.

The financial management of my practice is guided by best practice standards for independent psychology practitioners. This includes striving to ensure that clients and patients have access to psychological services in a financially fair and equitable manner.

Included below is useful information information on medical aid claiming, how my practice invoices for services provided, and how accounts are required to be settled.

ACCOUNT PAYMENTS

Accounts are to be settled at the time of the consultation, and may be settled in Cash or with Credit / Debit Card or by Direct Bank Deposit or EFT.

International or distance settlements may be facilitated via the following PayPal link:

                                                 MEDICAL AID

Over and above statutory prescribed minimum benefits (PMB’s) which apply to a limited number of mental health conditions, medical-aid schemes may offer addittional healthcare benefits to members according to the particulars of their specific medical aid scheme and / or plan.

For psychology services, additional benefits typically include individual psychotherapy and group psychotherapy. Any such benefits are likely to be limited as most medical aid schemes and / or plans have annual thresholds or maximum benefits that apply to specific benefits. Note that certain psychology services, such as psychometric or psycholegal assessments, are invariably not covered by medical aid schemes and / or plans.

It is highly recommend that clients and patients with medical aid determine the the psychology service benefits available to them prior to their initial consultation.

                                                   BILLINGS & ACCOUNT SETTLEMENT

top-bannerMy practice does not facilitate medical aid claims on behalf of clients or patients. However, I am registered with the Board of Healthcare Funders (Practice No. PN0573744) which means that clients and patients may claim fees paid back from their medical aid directly, provided that the relevant services are covered by their medical aid scheme and / or plan. The information required by medical aid administrators for claims processing is provided by my practice at the time of invoicing.

Although my practice rates are in line with most medical aid rates, in some instances practice charges may exceed medical aid rates. Clients and patients are advised to budget accordingly from either their medical aid savings account, or other personal financial resources.

Financial assistance for financially indigent individuals will be considered, on a case by case by basis – please discuss your specific circumstances with me at your initial consultation.

Accounts are to be settled at the time of the consultation, and may be settled in Cash or with Credit / Debit Card or by Direct Bank Deposit or EFT. All clients are provided with a tax invoice which may be submitted to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a medical expense claim against taxable income (if not paid for by medical aid, or elsewhere). My practice is not registered for Value-Added-Tax (VAT).

CORPORATE CLIENTS

The financial terms and conditions applicable to corporate clients are usually incorporated into a service level agreement at the time of contracting with the practice. Typically, corporate consulting rates are charged at an hourly fee rate for ad-hoc consulting and / or a fixed fee rate for structured consulting programmes.
